COVID Data Management
Tuesday, April 20, 2021
10:50 – 12:00 EST
Networking and chapter business will precede our speaker, who is scheduled to commence at 11:10 EST.
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased need for companies to request, and in many cases require, sensitive personal information from employees, clients, customers, and other third parties. This situation initially caused privacy professionals to lose sleep at night. The pandemic quickly required companies and privacy experts to learn and to create new best practices for collecting, storing, and retaining the personal data necessary to comply with safety obligations. While the rules are still very much evolving, join us for a discussion on what we have learned, current best practices, and how we can take what we now know about data management and privacy laws and plan for the future.
Speaker: Whitney McCollum is the Chief Intellectual Property (IP) and Data Protection Counsel at AECOM, a global premier infrastructure consulting firm. Whitney is responsible for AECOM’s global privacy compliance program, and works with AECOM’s IT, Health & Safety, HR, and business teams worldwide on data protection measures. As AECOM’s IP counsel, Whitney partners with business teams globally to strategically protect AECOM’s innovations. Whitney is an alum of the IP litigation teams at Morrison Foerster and O’Melveny & Myers, is CIPP/US and CIPP/E certified and a member of the U.S. Patent Bar.
