Legally Transparent: Why Police & [Good] Records Management Need Each Other
December 15, 2020
1:00 – 2:30 EST
This session will provide an overview of a Records & Information Manager’s experience in managing sensitive law enforcement data for the fourth largest municipal body in Illinois. Topics will include:
- Best practices for managing criminal and law enforcement records
- Legal and regulatory considerations
- Budgetary implications of a public entity
- The future of Public Safety Records Management
- Why transparency in 2020 (and beyond) is paramount
Speaker: Tony Davis, Jr. is a senior analyst in the Records & Information Governance department at Walgreens Boots Alliance. He possesses over a decade of experience in records & information management and managing public safety information while addressing complex, high-profile public information requests. Tony’s experiences reflect full transformation of physical to electronic recordkeeping practices and migrating away from legacy methods of information management. Prior to joining WBA Tony lived and breathed public service as the Records and Information Manager and Lead Public Information Officer with the City of Naperville where he developed start to finish recordkeeping practices and incorporated modern day technology solutions to address legacy records management concerns. His experience is leveraged by an MS in data science earned at Elmhurst University.
