The Springfield community of Jacksonville is the largest registered historical district in the state of Florida and this year is celebrating its Sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary. Throughout those years, Springfield has played a key role in the growth and survival of Jacksonville. The Springfield Improvement and Archives Association seeks to explore and preserve the history of this unique neighborhood.
Come join us to hear how the dedicated volunteers at SIAA preserve documents, pictures, publications and other vital records to ensure the cultural and historic heritage of this community is maintained and passed along to future generations.
Springfield Improvement Association & Archives (SIAA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, with deep historical roots that originate from the Springfield Improvement Association and Woman's Club (founded 1904) and the Springfield Heritage Education Center. The Archives of the neighborhood are housed in the former Woman’s Club Building (circa 1906) at 210 West 7th Street. SIAA is an all-volunteer organization working to enhance the quality of life in Historic Springfield, preserve its history, and educate the community. SIAA members serve as advocates for Springfield Jacksonville, FL. We provide a social venue to help neighbors connect and learn about our unique community.
